The book

The book is designed as a visual feast with around nine hundred pictures. In almost every case I got the photo before I got stuck into the writing, this way everything ties together. Sections start with a short piece or story to set the scene before launching into the technical.

The 2nd Edition is out.

Signed copies of the book are available direct from myself. Cost £17.99 inc post and packing to address in the UK. For the rest of the EU the cost is £24.  Cheques, PayPal or bank transfer at the moment.  Cheques made out to Ray Goodwin and sent to:

Reviews:

Amazon  There are 40 reviews of the first edition on Amazon and it gets a 5 star rating. But buy it from me and I make more money.

SotP       The Song of the Paddle Forum has a couple of pages on the book but the link gives a page of comments. The reviews by Bembe  (Post 62) and ‘Happy Camper’ (Post 82) are particularly thoughtful and pleasing.

We sold 5000 copies of the 1st Edition.

The Second Edition:  It is the original book plus 27 pages of new content and over 100 extra pictures.  We have expanded the section on children, added new solo rescue techniques, more on improvised rafting and sailing, examples of tracking and lining on major expeditions, inspirational canoe journeys and a new section on ‘vision patterns’, a method for creating a mental map of a rapid.

Mark Rainsley asked me if this is the Director’s cut?  2nd edition, extended edition but hey I like the concept of the Director’s Cut. It includes stuff that I wanted in the original but the editor felt it took up too many more pages.  Now we have it plus things I have learnt in the meantime.
